Emergency Management Interpreter Training (EMIT) is an annual event open to ALL sign language Interpreters – Deaf, hearing, and hard of hearing.

June 10-14, 2019

at Georgia State University campus in beautiful downtown Atlanta, Georgia

This year will feature 2 tracks: Basic and Advanced

The Basic Track is for Interpreters who still need basic skills certifications like CERT, CPR/AED First-Aid, Red Cross Shelter Worker Certification, Skywarn Storm Spotter Certification, Search And Rescue Technician IV, and Mental Health First-Aid

The Advanced Track is for Interpreters who have already completed EMIT Basic training and are wanting to increase their skill set in the 5 specialties of Emergency Management interpreting. The Advance Track will feature a full day on each specialty, allowing the Interpreter to determine which specialty best fits thier skills and abilities and giving insight for additional training opportunities.

The 5 Specialties of Emergency Management interpreting are:
– Press Conference Interpreting
– Public Information Officer Interpreting
– Emergency Shelter Interpreting
– Family Assistance Center Interpreting
– Search And Rescue Interpreting
